Govt To Empower Mampu As Leader Of Digital Transformation – Rafizi

The government has decided to build the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) capacity as the leader of country’s digital transformation.

Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said the decision was made at the last National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last week.

“This decision signifies the government’s serious commitment to ensuring Malaysia is not only ready to face the digital era, but is also at the forefront of technological innovation.

“The government will form a solid foundation for technological advancement, accelerate the development of the digital economy through sophisticated and inclusive digital services,” he said in a statement today (Nov 17).

A concept paper for GovTech will be presented at the upcoming National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting in December, which will outline strategic initiatives and innovative technology solutions to improve public sector services.

“The focus is on leveraging the latest technology to streamline government operations, increase efficiency, and provide better services to the public. It is a critical step to integrating technology into government processes,” he said.

GovTech aims to revolutionize public sector services by integrating government operations into a single and seamless digital platform.

This initiative centres on the creation of an interconnected digital ecosystem, enabling citizens to access various government services easily and efficiently. By leveraging data and analytics, it strives to facilitate more informed, responsive, and effective governance.

Rafizi said these efforts is part of the government’s plans to pivot the country towards technological advancement.

“For example, Padu will be the government’s central database hub to ground this transition to ensure governance are executed throughout the public sector.

“It forms the basis for key enablers, such as the tabling of the Omnibus Act, to take shape. By mandating greater data sharing between ministries and agencies, the government will be able to maximise the efficiency and exhaustive potential of Padu,” he said.

He added the first cohort of the three-month Executive Digital Leadership Program was launched on Nov 14, consists of 55 participants, with 35 coming from the public sector and the remaining 20 from the private sector.

“Building Malaysia’s digital leadership is vital. Only with a digitally savvy, agile civil service will the government be able to successfully embark on this transition.

“Consistent uptake of programs like EDL will ensure successive generations will have the capabilities to drive Malaysia forward to the next era of technological progress,” Rafizi added.
