PM Anwar Receives Death Threat On TikTok

The Prime Minister’s representative party youth has called for decisive action against a person who allegedly posted a TikTok video offering a RM5 million bounty for the assassination of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

At a press conference, the rep said the spreading of hate instead of engaging in fact-based discourse is alarming adding that without prompt and firm action, individuals may feel emboldened to act recklessly, believing they can evade consequences for their actions.

The contentious video, reportedly uploaded by the user ‘jaiadani89’ on TikTok, has since been removed. The perpetrator had issued the bounty to assassinate the Prime Minister and everyone in the cabinet.

However, screenshots from the video have been widely shared on other social media platforms, sparking public outcry and demands for swift action against the individual involved.

The rep revealed that Keadilan party members have already filed a police report at the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters (IPD), with additional reports expected following the congress.

The incident comes amidst increasing concerns about religious and racial extremism in Malaysia.
