CelcomDigi Berhad in referring to the Indemnity Suit and Conspiracy Suits and the Judgment entered against the former owner of Celcom Berhad Tan Sri Tajuddin Ramli and Dato’ Bistamam Ramli, the group has announced that all parties have on 29 November 2023 reached an amicable settlement in respect of the Suits and the Judgment.
The case actually refers to the announcement made in February 2023 in relation to the Indemnity Suit and Conspiracy Suit. following the decision of the High Court allowing Celcom and Celcom Resources’ claims against Tan Sri Dato Tajudin Ramli and Dato’ Bistamam Ramli has received the judgment sum on the claims.
The courts have dismissed the latter’s counterclaims in both suits and entered judgment against both parties having them pay the sum accordingly.
Tan Sri Tajuddin is to pay the sum of RM214,662,248.15 together with prejudgment interest at the rate of 5% per annum from 26 September 1996 to the date of full realisation. And the sum of RM231,375,892.94 together with prejudgment interest at the rate of 5% per annum from 23 May 2002 to the date of full realisation.
Against both Tan Sri Tajudin and Dato Bistaman, the sum of USD232,000,000.00 together with prejudgment interest at the rate of 5% per annum from 27 January 2006 to the date of full realisation. Costs of RM2,621,500.00.
