RM1 Billion Allocated To eMadani To Benefit Up To 10 Million Malaysians: MOF

As announced by the Prime Minister and Finance Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim  during the second reading of the Supply Bill 2024 (Belanjawan 2024), registration for the eMADANI programme will be opened on Monday, 4 Dec 2023.

A total of 10  million eligible adults, encompassing the B40 and M40 categories, will receive the one time RM100 e-wallet credit under this programme.

The Government has allocated RM1 billion for the programme, which was first announced  at the launch of the Ekonomi MADANI: Memperkasa Rakyat framework on 27 July 2023.

The eMADANI programme follows the success of the eBeliaRahmah programme, and  has a three-pronged objective of buoying incomes for micro small medium entreprises  (MSME), encouraging cashless transactions, and benefiting the rakyat.

“With the year’s closing and school holidays upon us, the Government hopes the eMADANI contribution will help ease the rakyat’s expenses during this time of the year,  while concurrently inculcate a cashless payment culture among Malaysians,” said Anwar, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) today (Nov 29).

“The implementation of the eMADANI programme beginning next Monday aligns with the  Government’s commitment to expedite the execution of measures to support the digital  economy and provide direct assistance to the rakyat,” he stated.

A total of four e-wallet service providers, namely MAE, Setel, ShopeePay, and  Touch ‘n Go eWallet, are participating in this programme. In addition to the RM100 e-wallet credit provided by the Government, the participating e-wallet service providers will also offer additional incentives in the form of vouchers, cashback, discounts or reward points throughout the programme.

Below are the eligibility criteria:

(i) Malaysian citizens aged 21 years and above as at 1 January 2023; and (ii) Recipients of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) based on record as at 7  November 2023; or

(iii) Earning an annual income of RM100,000 and below based on the Inland  Revenue Board’s (IRB) record as at 15 July 2023.

The eMADANI programme will open for registration and claims starting 8.00 am on  4 December 2023 until 20 February through the beneficiaries’ choice of participating e-wallet service providers.

Meanwhile, the eMADANI credit and the matching benefits  provided by the respective e-wallet service providers can be utilised for offline transactions  until 29 February 2024.

The eMADANI credit can also be spent at retailers and businesses accepting DuitNow QR  code payment via any of the four-participating e-wallet service providers, subject to the  permitted transactions.
