Ringgit Opens Lower Against US Dollar Amidst Profit-Taking, Caution Ahead Of Fed Chairman’s Remarks

The ringgit opened lower against the greenback on Friday, on continued profit-taking after recent gains, and on caution ahead of talk later in the day by US Federal Reserve (Fed) chairman Jerome Powell, said an analyst.

At 9.01am, the ringgit had fallen to 4.6670/6720 versus the US dollar, compared with Thursday’s close at 4.6590/6635.

It was reported that the favourite inflation gauge by the Fed continued to decline in October, which saw personal consumption expenditures (PCE) drop to 3%, and core PCE inflation down to 3.5%.
