Gamuda Bags RM1.77 Billion Contract For Singapore’s West Coast MRT Station

Gamuda Bhd announced that its Singapore Branch has been awarded the design and construction contract for West Coast MRT station and tunnels by the Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) worth around RM1.77 billion (SGD509.568 million) today.

In a Bursa listing today (Dec 6), the group said the West Coast station and tunnel project stands as Gamuda’s independent venture in Singapore.

“It showcase the group’s engineering prowess and solidifying its role as a key player in the city-state’s transportation infrastructure development,” it said.

The design and construct contract will involve one underground station, which is the West Coast station, and two tunnels (approximately 1.9km in total).

West Coast Station is part of the 15km Cross Island Line Phase 2 (CRL2), comprising 6 stations. CRL2 is Singapore’s eighth Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line. The station will be constructed along West Coast Road.

“The project is similar in risk to a number of MRT station and tunnelling projects completed successfully for LTA in similar ground conditions.

“It will utilized two slurry tunnel boring machine (TBMs) to complete the tunneling works, with station excavations comprising rock removal.”

The construction works will start in the first quarter of 2024 and is expected to be completed by 2032.

“The project is expected to contribute positively to the revenue and earnings of Gamuda Group for the financial year ending 31 July 2024.”
