The Ulu Padas Hydroelectric Project aligns with the commitment of the Unity Government to ensure the fundamental rights of the people, particularly in Sabah, by providing access to water and electricity.

The project is poised to significantly benefit the state, contributing to the socio-economic growth of its residents. The dam is expected to generate a stable and clean water supply of 6000 million liters per day.

The Prime Minister emphasised that the project would be closely monitored to ensure it progresses according to the stipulated schedule. This underscores the government’s dedication to delivering essential services and infrastructure to the people of Sabah.

During the event, the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s decision to allocate a substantial budget to Sabah and Sarawak in the 2024 Budget.

Expressing surprise at the questioning of the allocation, the Prime Minister questioned whether those raising concerns were unaware of the urgent needs in Sabah, a state that has long been marginalised in terms of basic rights.
