The Ministry of Finance is considering the appeal of individuals whose eMADANI credit assistance applications were rejected, said its Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

He said the appeal will be given priority to eligible applicants including recipients of the Rahmah Cash Donation (STR).

“Through the STR list, there are as many as 8.7 million recipients and some of them do not receive eMADANI, therefore the relevant group will be considered and prioritized,” he said at a press conference after visiting the proposed Pontian Community College site in Benut.

Ahmad said the announcement about the eMADANI appeal, which aims to expand the use of e-wallets in addition to helping the people as well as micro, small and medium enterprises (PMKS) and the local economy, will be made in the near future.

“Last Wednesday, the Ministry of Finance held a meeting regarding eMADANI which was chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which was also attended by myself and National Budget Director Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican.

“We will make the next announcement about this appeal in a little while,” he said.

Ahmad said the government heard the complaints of some citizens who claimed that eMADANI was difficult to apply for, so a data comparison would also be made between the number of STR recipients and eMADANI to improve the lack of applications.

“Actually, eMADANI is very exciting and the application period was open for two months starting last Monday, but in these few days many people have managed to get it. Applications through the Touch ‘n Go application are the highest,” he said.

The eMADANI program which can be redeemed starting last Monday is expected to benefit 10 million people including the B40 and M40 groups who will receive an e-cash credit of RM100.

Among the eligibility requirements to apply for eMADANI credit assistance are Malaysian citizens aged 21 years and above on 1 January 2023 and STR recipients based on records on 7 Nov 2023 or having an income of RM100,000 and below per year based on the records of the Malaysian Inland Revenue Board (LHDNM). as of July 15, 2023.
