Singapore authorities caught 176 people at the ZoukOut dance music festival for possessing e-vaporisers, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said in a press release on Friday (Dec 8).
The operation – carried out on Dec 2 and Dec 3 at the event held at Siloso Beach, Sentosa – was part of HSA’s efforts to enforce the prohibition against e-vaporisers in Singapore.
The authority said the offenders ranged from 18 to 51 years old. It added that they will be fined for their offences, with all e-vaporisers seized and confiscated.
“Members of the public are reminded that the possession, use or purchase of e-vaporisers is illegal and carries a maximum fine of S$2,000”, the authority said.
HSA added that it will not hesitate to take stern enforcement actions on those who conduct illegal activities such as the peddling of prohibited e-vaporisers to members of the public.
