MyDigital ID System Ensures Biometric Data Security, User-Friendly Access

Mimos Berhad has clarified that the MyDigital ID system does not store biometric data, such as fingerprints, iris scans, or facial recognition, and does not utilize chips or implants. The statement emphasized that the system also refrains from collecting, monitoring, sharing, or storing users’ personal data or online activities, and does not support the creation of multiple digital identities.

The MyDigital ID system, not designed as a substitute for MyKad, offers secure transactions on government portals through a cryptographic-based system, ensuring robust security measures. Furthermore, it holds Common Criteria Certification with EAL3+, an internationally recognized security certification. The MyDigital ID app on smartphones integrates digitally bound identity information through cryptography, providing a highly secure technology for names and identification numbers.

Mimos highlighted that MyDigital ID represents the government’s commitment to delivering easily accessible and secure digital services. It marks a significant stride toward creating a user-friendly and secure digital environment, aligning with the government’s vision of leveraging technology to empower individuals.

MyDigital ID also functions as an online verification method, streamlining individuals’ access to various government digital platforms. This integration simplifies the online verification process, allowing individuals to use multiple services without repeated logins and facilitating digital interactions with government agencies.

The registration for MyDigital ID will open to all government employees starting March 2024, with detailed information available on the official MyDigital ID website, reported Bernama.
