Sunway University proudly announces the recognition of academic excellence as Professor Dr. Goh Bey Hing and Professor Dr. Lim Weng Marc are bestowed with the 2023 Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) awards by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM).
The prestigious ceremony, held at Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, witnessed the awards presented by Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) Minister YB Chang Lih Kang and Deputy Minister YB Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, representing Guest of Honor YAB Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Heading the Sunway Biofunctional Molecules Discovery Centre, Professor Goh has been a trailblazer in researching the functionality of natural products derived from herbs, microbes, and algae.
His interdisciplinary work, connecting pharmacology and chemistry, has yielded groundbreaking advancements in nutraceuticals, nutrition, aquaculture, and clinical science.
As the Dean of Sunway Business School, Professor Lim’s expertise in business strategy has been transformative. Recognised as the “Youngest Professor” in the Malaysia Book of Records, his contributions to over 100 “A” rank journals, with citations exceeding 10,000, and successful acquisition of more than RM10 million in grants underscore his profound impact.
His research, particularly in business experiments and scientometrics, equips business leaders to navigate the dynamic and complex disruptive, volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (DVUCA) business environment.
Both professors, recipients of the Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (TOYM) awards by Junior Chamber International (JCI) in 2019 and 2020, respectively, showcase Sunway University’s commitment to attracting and retaining top talent in the country.
