Technical Issues Force Temporary Suspension Of Labuan Ferry Services By Operator Juta Bonus

The Labuan-Menumbok-Labuan ferry route has been thrown into disarray as Juta Bonus Sdn Bhd, one of the key operators, abruptly ceased its operations on 28th Dec.

The unexpected suspension has left travelers grappling with disruptions during the festive season, causing frustration among those planning Christmas getaways and year-end school holidays.

In an official statement released yesterday by Binabalu Sdn Bhd, the ticket management company for the ferry service, it was disclosed that unforeseen technical issues had impacted two vital vessels in their fleet – Galaxy and Blue Ocean.

The technical glitches prompted an immediate and unanticipated halt to services, leaving passengers in the dark about when normal operations would resume.

According to Bernama, the Menumbok ferry terminal witnessed scenes of chaos as hundreds of stranded passengers scrambled to secure refunds or rearrange their travel plans. The frustration reached a boiling point, with some venting their anger and grievances on various social media platforms.

Affected passengers have been advised by the ticket management company to either visit designated counters for refund processing or to submit images of their tickets as evidence for online reimbursement. The company has facilitated this process through WhatsApp at 016-8189040.

In the wake of the temporary suspension of Galaxy and Blue Ocean, only four ferries—Kimanis 1, Putrajaya 1, Goodwill Star, and Joystar—remain operational. These ferries are under the management of Labuan Mainland Link Sdn Bhd.
