DOSM Chief  – Over 100,000 PADU Registrations Successfully Completed Within 24 Hours

More than 100,000 Main Database System (PADU) registrations have been successfully completed within less than 24 hours of its launch.

According to the Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin, although the number of traffic through the PADU website is high, all successful registrations include online registration.

“So far, we have reached over 100,000 users who have successfully registered in the PADU system, the majority of them have done this independently online,” he said when interviewed today (Jan 3) on AWANI Pagi.

Mohd Uzir admitted that one of the main challenges of registering the Main Data Base System (PADU) is its access to rural residents who have limited information and digital literacy.

However, agencies across the country have been mobilised to obtain information and data from the people as much as possible, aiming for a fairer distribution of subsidies.

“Among the challenges we see is how to make sure this can be re solved as much as possible and for as many people as possible and among the challenges we see to achieve this is to be in all corners of the country,” he said.

He emphasised that the PADU system is a national project that requires cooperation at all levels of the field. Therefore, cooperation with the state government, government agencies, and all representatives at the level of the Parliament and State Legislative Assembly (DUN) has also been mobilised to become field facilitators, to explain the importance of the PADU system to the country.

“In this regard, I am sure that every citizen of the country who needs further information, may lack IT literacy, we will have a strategic collaboration with other agencies such as JAPEN, Information and Info on Wheel, for them to move to densely populated areas to explain the importance of the implementation of PADU this,” he explained.

Economy Minister, Rafizi Ramli yesterday (Jan 2) said the Government will mobilise a ‘flying squad’ to ensure that no people drop out of registering for PADU, especially in rural areas.

The teams will be moved from week to week to specific areas based on the performance of registration updates in the first week, which starts today until next March 31.

According to Rafizi, PADU registration can also be done at the State Operations Office of the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) or the Digital Economy Center (PEDi).

He said, this has already been planned to be implemented by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) across the country.

“For information, as early as yesterday’s launch, we have already together with the Digital Economy Center in 911 offices across the country, 44 state and district DOSMs including 27 Urban Transformation Centers (UTC) across the country will mobilise Starlink facilities to make this registration a success.

“This is because paperless entries and approaches will be used to ensure that information continues to enter the system,” he explained.

DOSM targets 29 million Malaysian citizens to register in the PADU system which is open from 2 January until 31 March 2024. Yesterday, for the first time PADU was launched as an effort to integrate and coordinate various databases at the Government level.

The cooperation of related agencies has been strengthened through the Department of Statistics Malaysia, to ensure access to registration can be achieved throughout the country.
