PADU Registration Issues Prompt Security Concerns, Cybersecurity Glitches Fixed, Assures Rafizi

Upon the launching of the Central Database Hub (PADU) yesterday (Jan 2), challenges have arisen during the Padu registration process, leading to concerns over cybersecurity flaws.

Users complained regarding few issues on X (Twitter), such as OTP failures and the ability to register accounts using others’ personal details, highlighting a critical security oversight.

Former Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Ong Kian Ming demonstrated this vulnerability by registering accounts under his colleagues’ names.

Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli addressed these concerns, stating fixes were implemented, resolving Celcom users’ OTP issues by 3.30 pm.

Rafizi emphasised the necessity of completing the eKYC step for valid registration, refuting claims of lengthy approval times, asserting the process takes under five minutes, instead of 3 days.

He advised affected individuals to contact the Helpdesk for resolution and assured the public of data security and privacy measures within the Padu system.
