Wan Kamaruzaman Resigns From Al-‘Aqar and As-Salam REIT’s Boards

Datuk Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad resigned from independent and non-executive director post of Al-‘Aqar Healthcare Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) (Al-‘Aqar) and Al-Salam Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) effective today (Jan 5).

In a Bursa filing today (Jan 5), both REITs said Wan Kamaruzaman, 64, cited “to pursue other interest” as the reason for his resignation.

He held the position in both REITs since August 2020.

It was reported that Al-‘Aqar is 36.58%-owned by Johor Corporation, which also owns a 57.56% stake in Al-Salam REIT.

Wan Kamaruzaman is currently the chairman and independent director of Bank of America Malaysia Bhd, an independent director at Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB), and a non-independent director at Bermaz Auto Bhd.

He still holds the chairman position in Iris Capital Partners Sdn Bhd and has helmed several companies including Affin Trust Management Sdn Bhd, Kumpulan Wang Persaraan Diperbadankan (KWAP) and Izoma Sdn Bhd.
