Additional Public Transportation Services Announced For Chinese New Year Celebrations

The Ministry of Transport, Anthony Loke Siew Fook revealed additional transportation services for flights, trains, and buses in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities next month.

Minister Anthony Loke announced that the initiatives include extra flights from Kuala Lumpur to Sabah and Sarawak by Batik Air, as well as additional Electric Train Services (ETS) trips by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh and Padang Besar.

According to a local news report, Loke also revealed that the ministry has approved applications for Temporary Change Permits (LPS) for additional buses throughout the festive season. “I am pleased to announce that Batik Air has responded to the government’s call by offering additional flights on February 6 and 7. Batik Air has also agreed to offer a fixed economy fare at RM399 for one-way travel from Kuala Lumpur to Sibu. This special fare is applicable for eight flights on the respective route for journeys from February 6 to 9,” he said during a press conference today.

Loke emphasised that these initiatives complement the fixed fares introduced by AirAsia last week and the additional 20 flights by Malaysia Airlines from the Peninsula to Sabah and Sarawak for the upcoming festive season.

The efforts aim to enhance transportation options and accommodate the increased travel demand during the Chinese New Year celebrations.
