8 New COVID-19 Deaths In Malaysia, Totaling 37,323 Fatalities, With a Recovery Rate Of 98.92%

Malaysia Ministry of Health (MoH) in a Covid-19 weekly report, reported a total of 12,431 new COVID-19 cases in the past week (07 January – 13 January), pushing the cumulative positive cases in the country to 5,257,009.

Amid the new cases, 17,197 patients recovered and were discharged, contributing to a cumulative figure of 5,199,997 recoveries. However, the nation mourns the loss of 8 lives this past week, with the death toll now standing at 37,323.

The top 5 states with the highest cases reported last week are:

  • Selangor (+3105)
  • Kuala Lumpur (+2100)
  • Johor (+1513)
  • Melaka (+755)
  • Kedah (+706)

As of January 14, 2024, 12:00 pm, the current recovery rate is at an impressive 98.92%. The number of active cases stands at 19,689. The total confirmed cases increased by 12,431, reaching 5,257,009, while the total recovered cases saw a rise of 17,197, reaching 5,199,997. Additionally, 8 new deaths were recorded, bringing the total fatalities to 37,323. The category of Total Brought In Dead (BID) increased by 1, reaching a total of 7,938.
