14th WIEF: Redefine Boundaries Through Art And Technology In Abu Dhabi

The upcoming 14th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), scheduled from 6 to 8 February 2024 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), promises to be a groundbreaking convergence of art, technology, and economic discourse. Departing from conventional forums, this edition of WIEF aims to engage diverse participants by intertwining the realms of academia, economics, and creative arts.

With a focus on the evolving role of technology and its transformative impact on the global economy, particular attention will be given to East Asia’s rising influence. Tan Sri Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahman, Secretary General of WIEF Foundation, expresses the commitment to create an inclusive and diverse platform. He emphasizes the goal of fostering a stronger global community that thrives on inclusivity and cooperation.

This year’s WIEF introduces a mix of complementary events tailored to cater to diverse interests and aspirations. The Marketplace of Creative Arts (MOCAfest) takes center stage, providing a platform to push the boundaries of artistic expression and offer nuanced perspectives on contemporary art. The theme ‘Blurred’ for MOCAfest 2024, inspired by the pandemic’s impact, advocates for embracing ambiguity and encourages the blend of life, art, and technology to create innovative, multidisciplinary art.

MOCAfest runs concurrently with the Forum from 6 to 9 February 2024, bringing together an international ensemble of artists. Forum delegates have access to MOCAfest for three days, while public admission starts on the second day.

Jalal Luqman, a visual artist from Abu Dhabi, emphasizes the significance of art in conveying messages about local culture and societal norms. Saiful Razman, a visual artist from Malaysia, highlights the creative arts industry as a powerful voice for the current generation, contributing to the enhancement of cultural identity.

In addition to the artistic endeavors, WIEF extends its reach to nurture entrepreneurship and innovation through ‘ScaleUp.’ In collaboration with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Plug and Play, this initiative offers startups and aspiring entrepreneurs an invaluable opportunity to pitch their ventures. The pitching session on 7 February 2024 provides guidance and strategies for scaling up in today’s dynamic business landscape.

The 14th WIEF stands as a knowledge-packed event promising innovation, strategic insights, and a dynamic blend of art, technology, and economic discourse for all participants. Mark your calendars to be part of this transformative experience.
