KPJ Seeks RM90 Million In Damages From Former Chairman And 10 Board Members

KPJ Healthcare has informed that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Kumpulan Perubatan (Johor) Sdn. Bhd. have commenced and filed a writ action at the High Court of Malaya at Kuala Lumpur against former members of the Board of the group:

The civil suit is against mainly, Dato’ Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim who was the Chairman of KPJ and former CEO of JCorp, and 10 other members of the board in what is seems like a major case against a whole board.

The group said the suit concerns the alleged breach duties by the board and failure to exercise reasonable care and diligence in connection with the sale of 49% shares of the grou’s subsidiary, Lablink (M) Sdn. Bhd. by KPJSB to KL Kappa Sdn. Bhd. in 2018.

KPJ Group seeks a declaration that the said Board members have breached the fiduciary duties, a declaration that they were negligent; and agree to pay approximately RM90 million being the losses suffered by the group.
