Lush Launches 10th Outlet In Suria KLCC, Continues Its Sustainable Initative With “Naked Products”

Lush, the British-founded fresh, handmade cosmetics company, once again made waves in Malaysia with the grand opening of its tenth retail store at Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur. Since entering the Malaysian market in 2018, Lush has strategically expanded its footprint with ten outlets across Klang Valley, Johor, Kuantan, and Penang. Beyond its commitment to providing quality products, Lush remains a driving force in environmental and social responsibility, advocating for human, animal, and environmental rights.

Sustainable Initiatives Leading the Way: Lush Malaysia stands out for its unwavering commitment to environmental conservation. The company’s coral planting initiative and innovative packaging-free approach have collectively saved an impressive 13.8K tons of plastic globally. The introduction of “naked” products, including bath bombs, shampoo bars, and pressed conditioners, has prevented the production of plastic equivalent to the weight of 76 blue whales.

Lush Malaysia Director, Dr. Harvinder Harchand explained the concept of naked products, stating, “In our stores, customers can experience Lush’s products being sold without packaging, or as they call it “naked” products. The idea behind naked products is to reduce the cost that would typically incur with packaging, enabling the products to be made using better ingredients, suitable for the customers’ needs.”

Social Responsibility Programs: Lush’s commitment extends beyond environmental concerns to social responsibility. The Charity Pot initiative allocated 100% of sales (minus local taxes) from the Lush hand and body cream to fund groups championing animal protection, environment, and human rights. This initiative supports radical changemakers, focusing on small grassroots groups and projects aiming for long-term change.

The Bring It Back scheme encourages customers to return empty packaging to Lush stores, contributing to the reduction of plastic waste and fostering a closed-loop recycling system. Lush customers in Malaysia can exchange qualifying packaging items for RM3.00 towards their in-store purchase or receive a free fresh face mask by bringing back five empty black or clear pots. This initiative helps Lush reduce plastic waste that would otherwise end up in landfills, promoting sustainability through recycling.

Ethical Business Practices: Dr. Harvinder emphasised Lush’s commitment to ethical business practices, stating, “At Lush, we hold on to the belief that a business should be ethical and all trade should be fair. This is reflected through our products and how we conduct our business. Consumers are becoming increasingly conscientious about the impact of the products they buy. We want to make sure when customers purchase our products, it’s not only beneficial but resonates with their values.”

To enhance customer awareness and facilitate informed product choices, Lush personnel are available on-site for consultations, connecting customers with products that meet their needs while upholding ethical and sustainable standards.

With the opening of its tenth retail outlet, Lush continues to lead the cosmetic revolution in Malaysia, urging consumers to join the cause for a more sustainable and socially responsible world.
