Indonesia Must Raise GNI To US$30,300 To Be Developed Nation In 2045

Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy outlined five targets to achieve Golden Indonesia in 2045.

The five parameters that needs to achieved to help Indonesia in becoming a developed country with superior, professional, productive, and competitive human resources with Indonesia personality are high per capita income equivalent to developed countries with Gross National Income per capita of US$30,300, poverty rate of zero percent, and unemployment rate of four percent.

The other parameters are a high literacy rate and below eight deaths per one thousand births for infant mortality.

As an effort to realize competent and competitive human resources, he stated that the government has issued Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 concerning the Revitalization of Vocational Education and Vocational Training, stipulated on April 27, 2022.

Effendy stated that revitalization in that sector in needed to prepare a superior, competitive, qualified, skilled, and competent workforce in accordance with the needs of the ever-growing world of work.

“To become a developed country and realize the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045, we must be able to prepare competent, productive, and competitive human resources in all industrial sectors and fields of work. We must also create many new entrepreneurs,” he remarked.

The minister stated that Indonesia is currently facing big challenges to increase competency of human resources in the globalization and digital technology era.

However, this challenge is also a big opportunity from a demographic perspective, where the Indonesian population is dominated by members of generation Z, with the figure reaching 75.49 million people, or 27.94 percent, and millennials reaching 69.90 million people, or 25.87 percent, he stated.
