Daim’s Wife To Be Charged Tomorrow

The wife of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, Toh Puan Nai’mah Abdul Khalid, is expected to be charged at the Sessions Court here tomorrow (Jan 23), following an investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

A check on the court’s e-filing system revealed the case would be called before Judge Azura Alwi at 9 am.

It was believed that she will be charged under the MACC Act, but the was no mention of the specific provision of the act.

MACC had reportedly called up Na’imah, 67, to give a statement on Jan 10 when she was interviewed for nine hours.

Earlier, MACC Anti-Money Laundering Division director Datuk Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin had confirmed that statements from Daim’s wife and sons were to facilitate investigation under the anti-money laundering law.

The MACC previously clarified that the investigation into Daim was based on information obtained from the Pandora Papers and that the investigation papers into the case were opened in February last year.

Daim, his wife and children along with their company Ilham Tower Sdn Bhd had also filed a judicial review application challenging MACC for freezing of their bank accounts and seizure of the 60-storey Ilham Tower near Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) on Dec 18, according to reports.
