Sultan Ibrahim’s Inauguration As The 17th King Of Malaysia Today

In a historic moment for Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim of Johor is set to take the oath of office as the 17th King of Malaysia today, marking the commencement of his five-year term. The auspicious ceremony will unfold at the 264th (Special) Meeting of the Conference of Rulers at Balairung Seri (throne room), Istana Negara.

Accompanied by a ceremonial swearing-in as Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the same term, the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, will add to the significance of the occasion. The solemn event will witness the presence of other Malay Rulers, members of the Royal family, and dignitaries.

According to Bernama, the ceremony is scheduled to commence at 7.45 am, Sultan Ibrahim will depart from Istana Bukit Serene, Johor, and board a special aircraft at the Royal Hangar of Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru, en route to the capital.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will read out the content of the instruments of proclamation of office, setting the tone for Sultan Ibrahim’s term as the King. The ceremony will culminate in the signing of these instruments, further solidifying his official status.

The ceremonial welcome for His Majesty will commence at the Royal Malaysian Air Force Subang Air Base around 9.45 am, followed by Sultan Ibrahim’s journey to Istana Negara for the oath-taking and signing of instruments.

Adding a touch of regality, Queen of Malaysia, Raja Zarith Sofiah, and the children of Their Majesties are also scheduled to grace the ceremony, making it a momentous occasion for the nation.

Sultan Ibrahim’s ascension to the throne comes after his election as the 17th King during the 263rd (Special) Meeting of the Conference of Rulers in October last year. This meeting also marked Sultan Nazrin’s appointment as Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The new King, Sultan Ibrahim, succeeds Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, concluding his reign as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong just yesterday.

In a latest development, Malay rulers arrived at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur to attend the 264th Meeting of the Conference of Rulers (Special) in conjunction with the swearing-in ceremony of the 17th King of Malaysia in the mroning.

Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terengganu is expected to preside over the meeting, which is scheduled to take place at the throne room at 11am.

Among those spotted as at 9.45am were Regent of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor, and Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

In the meeting, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar of Johor will be sworn in as the 17th King of Malaysia, while Sultan Nazrin Shah of Perak will take the oath of office as the Deputy King for the third time.

Sultan Ibrahim will replace Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Mustafa Billah Shah, whose five-year reign as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong ended on Tuesday.
