Sunway International Schools (SIS) Champions Academic And Athletic Excellence With Sports Scholarships

Celebrating over a decade of academic excellence since its establishment in 2008, Sunway International Schools (SIS) has emerged as a beacon of educational success. With a proven track record of nurturing top-performing students, SIS stands out for its commitment to academic prowess and holistic development through sports scholarships.

Graduating from the Canadian International Matriculation Programme (CIMP), Cherry Yeo Xiao Wei, a former Sports Scholar from 2017 to 2021, has made waves in rhythmic gymnastics. Her outstanding achievements include clinching four medals, three of which are gold, at the esteemed Mallorca Dance Festival (MDF) in Calvia, Spain. Reflecting on her journey, Cherry expressed gratitude for the pivotal role the SIS sports scholarship played in balancing her academic and athletic pursuits, citing understanding teachers and flexible assignment timelines.

Dillon Choo, a current Year 12 student in CIMP and a fellow sports scholarship recipient, has excelled in taekwondo. Holding a black belt, Dillon showcased his skills at the Majlis Sukan Sekolah-sekolah Selangor (MSSS) Taekwondo Tournament 2023, securing the eighth spot under the Boys Under-15 Poomsae category. Notably, he earned the title of Male Athlete of the Year (2022-2023) and achieved the prestigious SIS Student Letter Award as an all-rounder student.

Liew Zi Hin, another exceptional sports scholar in CIMP Year 12, represented Malaysia at the World Sport Stacking Association (WSSA) 2023 Asian Open Sport Stacking Championships in Korea. Zi Hin and his team earned the label of the fastest country in the world in the 3-6-3 timed relay category, boasting the fastest overall time of 12.9 seconds.

Expressing gratitude for the sports scholarship, Zi Hin acknowledged the unwavering support of SIS and teachers, emphasising their understanding and flexibility in accommodating his training schedule.

SIS, distinguished as the only international school offering the Canadian Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), Cambridge (IGCSE) International Programme, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), takes pride in being Malaysia’s sole licensed Ontario offshore school. Recognised as both Canadian (Ontario) and IB World Schools, SIS continues to foster academic and athletic excellence, shaping well-rounded individuals for the future.
