King Charles “is doing extremely well under the circumstances” following the start of his cancer treatment, Queen Camilla has said. Amidst Buckingham Palace’s announcement of the King’s cancer diagnosis earlier this week, the Queen has conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming support pouring in from the public.
According to AFP, she shared insights into the monarch’s response to the outpouring of letters and messages received from around the world during an event at Salisbury Cathedral on Thursday evening, “He is very touched by all of the letters and messages the public have been sending from everywhere,” the Queen revealed during the event. Her words underscored the depth of gratitude felt by the Royal Family for the heartfelt gestures of support extended to the King during this challenging time.
The announcement of the King’s cancer diagnosis came on Monday, with Buckingham Palace disclosing that it was detected while the monarch was undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate last month. While the specific type of cancer has not been disclosed, the Palace has confirmed that it is not prostate cancer.
In light of the diagnosis, the King has taken a step back from all public-facing duties to focus on his treatment. Senior royals, including the Queen and the Prince of Wales, will assume his duties for certain events, ensuring the continuity of royal obligations during this period.
