Study on the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) is expected to be announced in the fourth quarter of this year, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during his speech at the Prime Minister’s meeting with civil servants of Melaka State at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) today.
He said it was time to expedite the process to benefit public servants nationwide.
“There have been complaints about the duration of this SSPA study because it has been 12 years and the salary rates of civil servants have not been reviewed and increased.
“Last year I gave an assurance and this year it has reached a stage where I will expedite the process,” he said.
The Prime Minister said the process would be expedited in the coming months and would be presented to the Cabinet within three months.
“After that, we can announce it. So it will be in the third quarter or at the latest the fourth quarter of this year,” he said.
Previously, it was reported that the final report on the SSPA study is expected to be ready in two months.
Anwar was reported to have said that the decision was made based on the agreement of the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and the Director-General of the Public Service (KPPA) Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.
