The country’s banking industry is urged to continue to remain competitive in order to deal with three ‘Cs’ phenomenon namely complexity, chaos and contradictions simultaneously in the post-normal era, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said since the financial industry plays an important role in supporting the country’s economy, banks need to have high level of resilience to remain competitive in the face of three ‘Cs’.

“Banks need to shoulder the responsibility and work together with the government in order for economic reforms introduced in the Ekonomi Madani framework to be realised.

“This framework aims to bring about economic transformation by raising economic value in the global supply chain as well as improving the country’s economic sustainability,” he said.

Anwar said this when speaking at the launch of the ‘myimpact SME Hub’, a programme to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), organized by Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) in Kuala Lumpur, today (Feb 19).
