MDEC Hosts eUsahawan, Gig Fest: Aims to Train 30,000 SMEs, Students With RM35 Million Sales Goal

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) organised the eUsahawan and Gig Fest at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today, officiated by the Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo. The event showcased the achievements of the eUsahawan and Global Online Workforce (GLOW) programs, highlighting their role in fostering a more inclusive digital economy in line with Malaysia MADANI’s aspirations.

With the theme “The Opportunity is Here,” the event aimed to cultivate a digitally driven culture and equip individuals, graduates, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with the skills necessary to thrive in the digital economy. It provided valuable insights to participants on leveraging digital technologies for job opportunities and expanding market reach.

This year, MDEC aims to train 30,000 SMEs, tertiary, and TVET students, with a sales target of RM35 million. Additionally, 100 new eUsahawan hubs will be established nationwide to expose local entrepreneurs to more efficient digital marketing techniques.

Since its introduction in 2015, the eUsahawan program has trained over 563,543 entrepreneurs nationwide, generating cumulative sales exceeding RM1.24 billion. Similarly, the GLOW program, introduced in 2016, has assisted 105,390 participants in increasing their income, with a collective revenue of up to RM282.76 million.

Through initiatives like the High-Value Gig Digital Freelance program, MDEC aims to bridge the digital gap and empower individuals to seize opportunities presented by the digital economy, positioning Malaysia as the digital hub of ASEAN.
