Thomson Hospital Addresses The Cancer Care Gap By Offering Complimentary Second Opinion Consultation

Thomson Hospital is offering complimentary online consultation with a clinical oncologist for those seeking a second opinion on their cancer diagnosis. Facing a cancer diagnosis can be incredibly daunting, especially when grappling with decisions that profoundly impact the quality of life ahead. Speaking with a compassionate medical professional is always a wise step as it allows fuller understanding of the diagnosis and the array of treatment options available. Since the launch of this program, the Oncology and Nuclear Medicine department at Thomson Hospital has experienced an overwhelmingly positive response, receiving over 100 enquiries for a second opinion.

One-Stop Centre for Cancer Care

Thomson Hospital’s oncology and nuclear medicine facility endeavours to enhance access to consultations, technology, and support, offering personalised treatments while implementing programs and activities to bridge the gap between patients and their treatment.

“As the first hospital in Malaysia to be accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards  (“ACHS”) International for our Cancer Services, and now accredited organisation-wide as well, Thomson Hospital demonstrates our commitment to offering our patients high standards of holistic care which extends beyond treatment. We understand our patients’ needs, from their physiological demands to their mental and emotional well-being. In 2023 alone, Oncology and Nuclear Medicine @ Thomson Hospital received over 1,600 patients for treatment,” explained Dr Sivakumaran Jayaraman, Acting CEO of Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara.

Access to High Quality Treatment

Oncology and Nuclear Medicine @ Thomson Hospital offers a wide range of cancer treatments, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiosurgery, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine diagnostics and theranostics services with a special mention to being the first in the Asia Pacific to house the Mediso AnyScan SPECT/CT/PET imaging system, offering precise cancer detection. The advanced imaging system empowers clinicians with detailed insights, enhancing patient care precision and improving the effectiveness of cancer treatment.

“Designed to house all cancer modalities in a single facility, Oncology & Nuclear Medicine @ Thomson Hospital offers patients a seamless end-to-end experience and prioritises personalised healthcare journeys tailored to individual needs,” emphasises Ng Yee Voon, General Manager of Oncology & Nuclear Medicine and Screening and Preventive Health.
