MITI Sets Up IMC At Johor Singapore SEZ

The expansion of the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre (IMFC) into Johor signifies a strategic move aimed at driving economic growth and attracting investors by leveraging the state’s unique value propositions and potential. Approved in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, this initiative marks the establishment of the first IMFC outside Kuala Lumpur, showcasing Malaysia’s commitment to enhancing the investor experience nationwide.

Part of the broader Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) initiative, the integration of IMFC into this agenda aims to strengthen business ties and connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore. This underscores IMFC’s role in fostering a business-friendly environment crucial for mutual growth, with JS-SEZ expected to drive regional and national development, showcasing the impact of cross-border economic zones on prosperity.

YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, highlighted that the move aims to streamline administrative investment procedures, enhancing the investor journey in Malaysia. With Johor’s strategic location and natural resources, IMFC Johor is expected to enhance the state’s competitiveness and Malaysia’s appeal as a global investment destination.

Furthermore, IMFC aligns with the MADANI Economy Framework and the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030, contributing to sustainable growth initiatives and generating high-value employment opportunities nationwide.

Building upon the success of MIDA’s Project Implementation and Facilitation Office (TRACK) and the existing IMFC, the Johor IMFC will offer consultation and advisory services tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities in the state. This initiative aims to create an environment that enables Johor to fully realize its economic potential.

MITI and MIDA will collaborate closely with the Johor state government to cultivate a dynamic, competitive, and innovative economic environment that supports Malaysian businesses and creates job opportunities for the people.
