In the latest Brand Finance Global Soft Power Index 2024 report, Malaysia has made significant strides in international relations, marking a notable improvement in various key pillars. The report, which includes all 193 member nations of the United Nations General Assembly for the first time, highlights Malaysia’s advancements in soft power.

According to the report, Malaysia has recorded a 17-place rank improvement for the International Relations and People & Values pillars.

Additionally, the Culture & Heritage and Sustainable Future pillars also witnessed the nation’s second-highest surge. These advancements reflect Malaysia’s growing influence and success in fostering positive bilateral relations with key partners.

The Global Soft Power Index, based on a survey of over 170,000 respondents from over 100 countries, provides an in-depth analysis of nation brands’ perceptions globally. Malaysia’s improved ranking is attributed to its extensive relief assistance to people affected by natural disasters and conflicts across Asia and the Middle East.

The report underscored the importance of economic credentials in contributing to a nation’s soft power. Attributes such as a strong and stable economy and products and brands the world loves emerge as key drivers of influence and reputation on the global stage.

Malaysia’s climb in the Soft Power Index reflects the nation’s concerted efforts to strengthen its reputation as a progressive global player.
