During the Bumiputera Economic Congress (KEB) 2024, Ameer Ali Mydin, managing director of Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad, proposed the implementation of the Halal Business Transformation Programme. The programme aims to assist Bumiputera enterprises in obtaining halal certification through activities such as business readiness assessment and guidance.
Ameer suggested the establishment of a tier system and green lane to streamline the halal certification process for Bumiputera businesses. Additionally, he recommended providing special financing options like crowdfunding or endowment funds to support the growth of Bumiputera enterprises.
To further facilitate the halal certification process, Ameer proposed the provision of premises or industrial facilities compliant with halal standards through strategic partnerships with agencies, local authorities, and financial institutions. He also emphasized the importance of creating special recognition for Bumiputera enterprises and integrating promotion efforts among various agencies.
The KEB 2024, held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) from today until March 2, aims to explore the potential of technology and new economic opportunities to empower the Bumiputera community.
