Minister Rebrands MOHR As Kesuma

The Ministry of Human Resources has rebranded itself with the abbreviation of KESUMA which are the first to letters of each word of the ministry in its Bahasa Melayu name.

The full name of the ministry in Bahasa Melayu is Kementerian Sumber Manusia and incidentally the word Kesuma also means flower in the language. The ministry helmed by the new Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong has decided to change the name as he felt the mission of the ministry corresponded with the strategic 3K initiative namely empowering Welfare, Skills, and Employee success.

Since taking over, the ministry said the Minister has strengthen cooperation with trade unions, implement reforms on the institution of the Malaysian Industrial Court, emphasised workers’ wage rights, expand the coverage of social security schemes, improve quality of training skills, and implemented several steps to improve governance in all departments and agencies of the ministry.

Accordingly, from March 4, 2024, the name of the Ministry of Human Resources with the abbreviation (KESUMA) will be used officially on all related matters within the Ministry.
