TalentCorp Launches “Wanita MyWIRA” To Empower Women In The Workforce

In line with the MADANI Economic framework’s goal of achieving a 60% female workforce participation rate, the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR) through its agency Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp) has introduced a new initiative called Wanita MyWIRA, aims to narrow the gender gap in the workforce.

During the launch, the Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim Chee Keong highlighted the importance of empowering the nation’s workforce, particularly women, to meet the goals of the MADANI Economic framework.

“TalentCorp has been entrusted through the Wanita MyWIRA initiative to undertake the digital transformation of the Career Comeback Program (CCP), which will streamline incentive disbursement and gather real data in an effort to attract interest and enhance the position of women, while strengthening cross-agency collaboration under KESUMA,” he said.

Wanita MyWIRA will serve as a central hub for empowering women and structuring all women-related programs under TalentCorp’s supervision.

The initiative aims to address the challenges faced by women in the workforce, including the lack of data on women who have left the workforce.

TalentCorp has been entrusted to digitise the Returnship Program (CCP) to streamline incentives and gather accurate data to attract and enhance the position of women in the workforce.

Wanita MyWIRA aligns with the MADANI Economic framework’s goal of achieving gender equality and supports programs empowering women, including tax incentives through the CCP program extended until 2027.

TalentCorp CEO, Thomas Mathew emphasised the organisation’s commitment to supporting women and unlocking hidden talent to achieve the MADANI Economic aspirations.

“Under the Wanita MyWIRA initiative, we will leverage the MyNext assessment and profiling platform to create a centralized database for the female workforce, as well as other initiatives such as the Critical Occupation List (MyCOL) and strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration (IAC) to support women’s initiatives as mandated by the Minister,” he said.

The launch of Wanita MyWIRA coincides with TalentCorp’s International Women’s Day celebration from 2nd to 9th March 2024.

Various activities have been organised to boost skilled female participation, including the Women’s Career Convention and career carnivals featuring women-led companies offering flexible work arrangements.

TalentCorp aims to engage over 1,000 female participants from diverse backgrounds in the Women’s Career Convention, with the collaboration of various companies including Hiredly, Kiddocare, ManagedCare, British Petroleum, DHL, Exxon Mobil, and more.
