Malaysian Companies Record RM1.49 Billion Sales At Gulfood Fair 2024

Malaysian exporters showcased their products at the renowned food and beverage trade fair, Gulfood 2024, held from 19 to 23 February 2024, contributing to sales totaling RM1.49 billion.

Led by MATRADE Chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, 80 Malaysian companies participated in the event coordinated by MATRADE.

The fair, in its 30th edition, attracted over 5,000 exhibitors from 129 countries.

Exhibitors displayed various products, including ready-to-eat meals, beverages, confectioneries, and healthy and organic foods.

Malaysian brands engaged with over 100,000 buyers from approximately 190 countries during the exhibition, focusing on regions like the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and Europe.

The event also saw the involvement of other government agencies, including MPOC, FAMA, MARA, SME Bank, and PKNS.

Reezal expressed satisfaction with the remarkable sales achieved by Malaysian exhibitors, demonstrating the international trust in Malaysia’s F&B products.

He emphasised Malaysia’s strong belief in the quality and appeal of its food products, evident in the export value of RM30.31 billion recorded last year.

MATRADE Trade Commissioner in Dubai, Megat Iskandar Ahmad Dassilah, highlighted efforts to connect Malaysian exporters with premium importers and distributors in the UAE, aiming to enhance Malaysian brands’ reputation and boost exports in the region.

Participating companies like World Prominence Sdn Bhd and Etika Dairies received significant orders, indicating potential growth opportunities.

Malaysia’s emphasis on healthier F&B choices received positive feedback, with products attracting trade visitors. Global Brand Synergy (GBS) Sdn Bhd, promoting innovative and healthier beverages, highlighted the rising trend towards healthier eating habits.
