Dewan Rakyat Sitting To Focus On Tourism Boost, Dry Season Preparations

Today’s Dewan Rakyat session will focus on two crucial issues: the entry of tourists into the country and preparations to overcome the effects of the dry season.

Syahredzan Johan (PH-Bangi) is set to inquire about measures taken by the government to ensure that chartered flights contribute to increased tourist arrivals and economic growth.

Meanwhile, Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PN-Rantau Panjang) will address the water shortage caused by the current dry season.

She seeks information on the inter-agency coordination mechanism in place to tackle the issue and efforts to utilise floodwater in preparation for the drought.

Additionally, Zahid Hassan (PH-Wangsa Waju) will question the Minister of Economy about the direction and new approach drawn up by the government following the 2024 Bumiputera Economic Congress to enhance the socioeconomic status of the Bumiputera community.

During the oral answer session, Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa (BN-Tampin) is expected to seek statistics on public involvement in the complaint platform regarding the supply and price of basic goods.

He also aims to learn about government preparations to prevent supply and price issues ahead of major festivals.

Dr. Abd Ghani Ahmad (PN-Jerlun) will inquire about the status of drafting the Political Funding Act, referred to the Special Select Committee on Human Rights, Elections, and Institutional Reform, and its tabling in the Dewan Rakyat.

Following this, the Dewan Rakyat session will continue with debates on the motion of thanks for the royal address. The session is scheduled to last 19 days, with debates on Bills and government matters set for March 18 to 27.
