Dewan Rakyat Focuses On AI Regulation, Social Media Safety, Rahmah Initiative Expansion

Today’s Dewan Rakyat session will focus on important topics concerning artificial intelligence (AI), social media usage, and the Payung Rahmah initiative. Members of Parliament will address concerns and seek solutions regarding these matters.

Lee Chean Chung from Petaling Jaya will ask the Science, Technology, and Innovation minister about measures taken to control and monitor AI usage for the benefit of the people.

Kamal Ashaari from Kuala Krau will inquire about the Communications Minister’s plans to prevent children under 15 from having social media accounts and from being exposed to negative trends online.

Cha Kee Chin from Rasah will seek updates on the Rahmah Concept introduced in 2023 and its potential expansion to new areas in 2024.

The session will also feature winding-up discussions on the motion of thanks for the Royal Address from ministries such as Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Higher Education, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Communications, and Education. A total of 160 MPs participated in this debate from February 27 to March 7.

The Dewan Rakyat session aims to address pressing issues affecting the nation and seek solutions for the well-being of its citizens.
