Parliament To Address Wage Policy, Road Maintenance, Skills Development In Upcoming Session

As the First Meeting of the Third Term of the 15th Parliament commences today, several crucial issues are set to take the center stage during the Dewan Rakyat sitting.

Among the prominent topics to be discussed is the implementation of a progressive wage policy aimed at reforming the labor market by aligning workers’ wages with productivity growth in the private sector.

Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy (BN-Kalabakan) is slated to raise this matter during the Questions for Oral Answer session directed to the Economy Minister.

Furthermore, the concerning state of damaged roads and potholes in Pahang, which has resulted in accidents and vehicle damages, will be addressed.

Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah (PN-Rompin) is scheduled to inquire about the drastic measures that can be undertaken to tackle this persisting issue during the session.

In addition, the Human Resources Minister will be questioned by Manndzri Nasib (BN-Tenggara) regarding the readiness of the Skills Development Fund Corporation to provide loan assistance to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) trainees seeking short-term skill enhancement training and obtaining Professional Skill Certificates from local professional bodies or TVET institutions abroad.

Moreover, the parliamentary session will feature the winding-up session for the debate on the Supplementary Supply Bill (2023) 2024 at the committee level.

Highlighting the legislative agenda, several bills are set for their second reading, including the Police (Amendment) Bill 2024, the Highway Authority Malaysia (Incorporation) (Amendment) 2023 Bill, and the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (Amendment) Bill 2023.

The First Meeting of the Third Term of the 15th Parliament is scheduled to run for 19 days until March 27, allowing ample time for deliberation and decision-making on critical national matters.
