Ringgit Opens Slightly Higher Versus U.S. Dollar Ahead Of Major Developments

The ringgit opened slightly higher against the US dollar on Wednesday ahead of Bank Negara Malaysia Malaysia’s (BNM) Annual Report 2023 and the US Federal Reserve (Fed) decision on interest rates.

At 9am, the ringgit rose to 4.7335/7400 against the greenback from Tuesday’s close of 4.7350/7390.

Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid said market players are looking forward to hearing the latest assessment and the forecast for 2024, as well as the outcome of the US Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting which concludes on Wednesday.
