Sunway University Hosts Empowering Women Entrep Panel With Canadian Minister

Sunway University recently played host to a dynamic panel discussion centered on women entrepreneurs, featuring esteemed guests including the Honourable Mary Ng, Canadian Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade, and Economic Development. The event, aimed at celebrating local role models and addressing the challenges faced by women in business, garnered significant attention.

Mary Ng brought insights from the Canadian experience in women’s entrepreneurship and business leadership, highlighting Canada’s commitment to gender equality through its Feminist Foreign Policy.

Notably, the Canadian Government has been actively supporting gender equality initiatives in Malaysia through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), with investments exceeding 1.2 million Canadian dollars in over 60 women-focused projects.

Moderated by journalist and activist Tehmina Kaoosji, the discussion featured distinguished speakers including Sunway Education Group, Group CEO, Professor Datuk Elizabeth Lee, SpaceIn founder, Dr. Norilmi Amilia Ismail, and Cemozai, COO and Co-founder, Amanda Sivaraj.

Notably, Dr. Norilmi and Amanda were involved in the CFLI-funded project “SheDisrupts Malaysia, Women Economic Empowerment and Social Entrepreneur Support Program.”

Expressing gratitude for the collaboration, Elizabeth Lee emphasised Sunway University’s commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in business.

She highlighted the event as a platform for women to share insights, inspire others, and catalyze meaningful change in Malaysia’s entrepreneurial landscape.
