PM Says PADU Issue Resolved With Sarawak, Database Hits 10.61 Million

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who has made a short visit to Sarawak said the notice of suspension by the State on the PADU registration has been resolved.

The PM visited the state to discuss on various issues including the central database collection initiated by the Federal Government in efforts to streamline aid and subsidy distribution more effectively. Launched to much fanfare on 2 January 2024, the registration for the nations first database hub came to a slowdown with many Malaysians reluctant to share their details on fears of data leak, security and mistrust over the strength of the system.

However with conviction and roadshow conducted personally by the Economic Minister Rafizi Ramli, the minister allayed fear by addressing those issues during community briefings organised in Klang Valley which recorded the most apprehension.

The Department of Statistics today (31/3) reported that PADU saw a surge in registration in the past couple of days to reach 10.61 million, above the the 10 million target the department expected before the closing 31 March.
