Tourism Malaysia Launches Sarawak Delta Geopark & Gawai 2024 Tour Package

Tourism Malaysia has unveiled the Sarawak Delta Geopark & Gawai 2024 tour package today, aimed at promoting the unique geopark tourism products and the Gawai Festival celebration in Sarawak to both local and international tourists.

A total of 37 tour packages have been developed in collaboration with 13 tourism operators from Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.

These packages offer visits to geological sites, biological sites, and cultural sites around the geopark covering areas such as Kuching, Bau, and Padawan.

Included among the packages are the Geological, Heritage & Exploration @ Sarawak Delta Geopark Package, The Hidden Prehistory & Geological Sites @ Sarawak Delta Geopark Package, Cloud Glamping @ Sarawak Delta Geopark Package, Nature & Cultural @ Sarawak Delta Geopark Package, Gawai Open House at Matop Longhouse Package, Babulang Festival Package in Limbang, and Irau Aco Lun Bawang Festival Package.

Tourism Malaysia, Director of Tourism Package Development Division, Mohd Roslan Abdullah said that the development of these packages is part of efforts to diversify tourism destination options in preparation for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

He also highlighted that the development of these packages can contribute to heritage, historical, and cultural preservation efforts, as well as diversify economic activities and engage local communities to generate income.

The Sarawak Delta Geopark & Gawai 2024 package was developed following workshops and tourism product visits held for 4 days and 3 nights in collaboration with the state government through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MTCP) on October 16-19, 2023.

The workshop also received cooperation from the Sarawak Forestry Department, the Sarawak Department of Minerals and Geoscience Malaysia, and Tourism Malaysia Sarawak.

Potential tourism sites explored during the workshop include fascinating geopark sites such as Tasik Biru, Fairy Cave, Paku Rockmaze Garden, Annah Rais Longhouse, Bung Jagoi Homestay, and Sapit Village (also known as “Village Above The Cloud”).
