In light of current developments in the Middle East conflict and in furtherance to the statement by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Bursa Malaysia said they have increased their market monitoring and surveillance to ensure activities in the Malaysian capital market remain stable, fair and orderly.
The regulators assures that the country’s market fundamentals remain strong and that the intermediaries are well capitalised. Both regulators have reiterated that the local bourse has a robust system in place to ensure continuous and effective clearing and settlement of trades.
Additionally, both parties have informed that necessary controls are in place to address potential sharp increase in volatility in the equity market.
The SC and Bursa say they will continue to assess the situation very closely to ensure the integrity of the local capital market remains intact.
