PM: Malaysia Will Try Mitigate Impact Of Potential Volatility In Financial Markets

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had a special meeting with his cabinet members and key ministries to discuss on the development that is unfolding in the middle east.

Posting the updates on his Facebook page, Anwar said he met with Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, and other senior officials to discuss the situation in the Middle East.

In his posting the PM said Malaysia strongly believes that it is in the best interest of the global community that all parties involved should work towards achieving a cessation of hostilities in the Middle East to avoid further escalation of aggression. And that for a lasting solution, the ongoing violence must come to an end.

He also noted that Government is closely monitoring the evolving global geopolitical developments and financial markets, noting that the government will take appropriate actions to promote continued financial stability and orderly functioning of markets while also being concerned about the potential economic fallout from the current situation that may impact the people of Malaysia.

The Prime Minister also reiterated the stand that , Malaysia is with the Palestinian people who he said continue to suffer in this terrible situation.

Anwar called for all parties to exercise utmost restraint, and leading global stakeholders should demand a cessation of hostilities by all parties.
