MIHAS 2024 Officially Soft Launched

The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2024, an iconic event for the global Halal industry, has been officially soft-launched by Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry. The soft launch took place virtually on Thursday, 18th April 2024, at 11:30 AM.

In his speech, Tengku Zafrul expressed his pleasure at being part of the milestone event marking the 20th anniversary of MIHAS. He highlighted MIHAS’s journey from its humble beginnings in 2004 to becoming the world’s largest Halal exhibition, with its significant achievements contributing to Malaysia’s pole position as a global Halal hub.

Tengku Zafrul emphasised the global significance of the Halal industry, which has transcended cultural and religious boundaries, with universal values such as quality, diversity, and sustainability. He highlighted Malaysia’s leading role in the global Halal market, with Halal product exports reaching RM60 billion in 2022, demonstrating the industry’s strategic contribution to Malaysia’s economic development and job creation.

Additionally, he outlined the strategic initiatives under the Halal Industry Master Plan 2030 (HIMP 2030) aimed at promoting Malaysia’s Halal products and services globally.

He emphasised MIHAS’s role as a key platform for connecting Halal businesses worldwide and announced a target export value of RM63 billion for Halal products and services by 2025.

The theme of MIHAS 2024, “Globalising Halal Innovation,” reflects the importance of innovation in driving the growth of the global Halal industry.

Tengku Zafrul commended MIHAS for its role in showcasing Malaysia’s Halal products and services, providing insights into market developments, and facilitating business expansion for Malaysian companies.

At the end of his speech, Tengku Zafrul congratulated MATRADE for organising the 20th edition of MIHAS, scheduled to be held from 17th to 20th September 2024.

He expressed gratitude to JAKIM, HDC, and all strategic partners for their continuous support and looked forward to another successful edition of MIHAS.

The soft launch of MIHAS 2024 marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s Halal industry, reaffirming the country’s position as a global leader in the Halal market and underscoring the importance of innovation in driving its growth and sustainability.
