The construction of the MCE Auto Hub manufacturing facility by automotive parts maker MCE Holdings Bhd in Serendah, is expected to further contribute to the growth of the country’s automotive industry. This is a welcome development for an industry that is already contributing around RM40 billion to Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP), while providing a total of 700,000 jobs. According to Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, the automotive parts and components sector alone currently features some 600 suppliers and collectively employs over 50,000 workers.
“The development of the MCE Auto Hub is a testament to the government and ministry’s strategic policy push towards fostering growth and innovation in Malaysia’s automotive industry,” he said in his speech at the construction commencement ceremony for the MCE Auto Hub at UMW High Value Manufacturing Park today.
“This significant milestone marks the inception of a 10-year plan to strengthen MCE’s position in the automotive electronics space, as the automotive industry increasingly transitions into the electric vehicle (EV) era.”
Zafrul said MCE has pledged RM50 million in initial investment for the first phase of the auto hub’s development.
In all, he said the company will invest between RM150 to RM200 million within the next 10 years.
“Through this effort, the company is poised to stay ahead of the curve in technological advancements.”
Zafrul added that the new facility is set to boost MCE’s production capabilities to meet the rising demand for more sophisticated electronic components and systems for both EVs and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
“It reflects Malaysian automotive players’ readiness — supported by strong policies — to adapt to evolving market needs while proactively innovating their products and processes to remain competitive globally,” he said.
