UNITEN Receives Self-Accreditation Status With No Conditions Imposed

Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) has been granted self-accreditation status by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) until 2027, marking another achievement for the esteemed institution.

The self-accreditation status, awarded in August 2023, underscores the high quality of education at UNITEN and exempts the university from annual MQA compliance audits. It also empowers UNITEN to accredit most programs through internal audits, reflecting the institution’s commitment to maintaining rigorous academic standards.

The announcement of UNITEN’s self-accreditation status was made during the MQA engagement program on April 20, 2024. The event featured keynote addresses by Prof. Dr. Azlinda Azman, Director General of Higher Education, and Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar Sabran, Chief Executive Officer of MQA.

Expressing gratitude for this achievement, Prof. Ir. Dr. Khairul Salleh Mohamed Sahari, Vice-Chancellor of UNITEN, attributed the success to the dedication of staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders. He emphasised UNITEN’s commitment to producing high-quality graduates and building trust nationally and internationally, showcasing Malaysian educational excellence.

The event was attended by key representatives from UNITEN, including Prof. Ir. Dr. Izham Zainal Abidin, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Prof. Dr. Hanim Salleh, Director of the Quality Advancement Center, and other esteemed members of the faculty and administration.

UNITEN’s attainment of self-accreditation status without any conditions imposed underscores its commitment to academic excellence and its position as a leading institution of higher learning in Malaysia.
