University Malaya has been ordered by the Ministry to give an explanation after it invited a supposedly pro-Israeli professor Bruce Gilly to speak at a forum at the prestigious university.
Former education Minister, Mazlee Malik on his X account re-posted a message by Gilley who said that he had “safely departed Malaysia ahead of a Islamo-fascist mob whipped up by the government at the forum. He later added that Malaysia is not a safe country to travel to now.”
The American professor from Oxford and Princeton, later posted on his X account that he will not accept any reimbursement from UM for the travel and lodging cost result of its disgraceful behaviour by the university and the government.
Netizens are questioning UM’s screening process before inviting speakers to its events.
