Prime Minister Leaves To Attend WEF In Saudi

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been invited by King Salman of Saudi Arabia to attend the 2024 Special Meeting of the World Economic Forum which will see world leaders including US Foreign Secretary, Anthony Blinken, Presidents of Rwanda and Nigeria, Paul Kagame and Bola Ahmed Tinubu; and IMF Chief Kristalina Georgieva.

The Special Meeting of the World Economic is organised around three themes: revitalising global collaboration; a compact for inclusive growth; and catalysing action on energy for development.

Anwar will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hassan, Minister of International Trade and Investment Tengku Zafrul, Malaysian Ambassador to Saudi TYT Datuk Wan Zaidi bin Wan Abdullah and other Senior Officials of the Malaysian Embassy in Riyadh.

The Opening Plenary – A New Vision For Global Development – will set the tone for the Special Meeting, as the Forum President Børge Brende is joined by the Presidents of Rwanda and Nigeria, Paul Kagame and Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim; Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva; and Peter Orszag, CEO of financial services group Lazard, to discuss how to reignite the momentum on development and economic convergence.
