Berjaya Corp Files Police Report Over Alleged False Forest City Casino Revival Reports

Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) has taken decisive action in response to recent reports alleging its involvement in discussions to revive the Forest City casino resort project. Last week, BCorp denied these claims, attributing them to false information.

In a statement released on Sunday, BCorp revealed that it has lodged reports with the police, urging them to commence an investigation into the matter. The reports specifically target the unidentified source responsible for disseminating what BCorp asserts are wholly untrue and false statements.

The company emphasised its trust in the police to carry out a thorough probe into the issue. “We respectfully encourage any publication to be done more tactfully before making any allegations without prior verification,” BCorp stated.

The controversy stemmed from an article published on April 26, which inaccurately portrayed BCorp’s alleged involvement in discussions with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding the Forest City project. BCorp clarified that the information presented in the article was misleading and did not reflect the conglomerate’s actual stance.

In a subsequent statement, BCorp expressed strong condemnation of what it perceives as malicious intent behind the publications and republications of these articles. The company firmly believes that the dissemination of false statements was aimed at causing political unrest, eroding public trust, and distorting the public’s perception of key figures such as His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

BCorp highlighted the lack of effort on the part of news agencies to verify the accuracy of the statements before publication, particularly since they were attributed to an unnamed source.

The company’s decision to pursue legal action underscores its commitment to upholding its reputation and integrity in the face of false allegations. BCorp remains steadfast in its pursuit of justice and accountability.
